» Ballinascreen CCÉ News

The County Derry Fleadh 2010 takes place in Cultúrlann from 14th – 18th April. The following is a provisional timetable of events (subject to change):

  • Wednesday 14th April: Irish Language Quiz for primary and post-primary schools with a performance of choice for entertainment. The performance of choice will be performed through the medium of Irish and the performers will have a varied programme including story, dance and song. An open Irish language quiz will take place in the evening with a social afterwards including traditional music.
  • Thursday 15th April: Seisiún Mór – The first 90 minutes will have specific emphasis on the youth followed by an open session of music, song, dance and maybe a story or two. We invite musicians, singers and dancers from the nine counties of Ulster and beyond to come along. This will be an event not to be missed.
  • Friday 16th April: Céilí Mór:  This will be a ceili dancing event with sessions throughout Cultúrlann for musicians and singers. This will be an opportunity for all céilí enthusiasts to come along and enjoy a vibrant night of dance on the newly fitted spring  dance floor in the Cultúrlann.
  • Saturday 17th April: Competitions for music, singing, comhra and dancing throughout the day.  A singing session in the evening continuing into the night with singers from all over the country. The Cultúrlann will be filled to capacity with competitors and spectators. There will also be music sessions for everyone to enjoy.
  • Sunday 18th April: A youth concert showcasing the talent of the young Comhaltas members in County Derry.  The cream of the branches will display a variety of talents to entertain everyone who comes along to enjoy the event.

» The Big Easter Egg Hunt at the Rural College

Easter BunnyThe Big Easter Egg Hunt takes place in the Courtyard Restaurant at the Rural College on Sunday 4th April from 12noon – 5pm. General Admission to the Big Easter Egg Hunt is £3 per child and for those children who are already having Sunday Lunch at the restaurant admission is free! A wide variety of other entertainment will also be provided, including:

  • Meet the REAL Easter Bunny!
  • Have lunch with the Easter Bunny
  • Petting Zoo
  • Bouncy Castle
  • Face-painting
  • Balloon Modelling

» Broughderg/Dunamore/Sixtowns First Responders Scheme

A Community First Responder scheme is now operating in the Broughderg/Dunamore/Sixtowns areas whereby a team of trained volunteers will attend, wherever possible, a patient who has collapsed and administer CPR and/or de-fibrillation whilst waiting for an ambulance to attend. Volunteers will have ID and will provide whatever care is reasonable, assisting doctors of members of the Ambulance service as required.
